He's the bees knees!

This lovely picture is from this past Thursday night. We went to 'The Arroyo', for happy hour to celebrate me accepting a job at wells fargo. Finally a job! I decided to choose an industry that I'm genuinely interested in (banking) and that has lots of room for growth and opportunity. So, arroyo mean 'ditch' in Spanish. Behind this lion and fence, is you guessed it, a lovely ditch. We split fajitas (yes, tex-mex with no cheese) and had a few 99cent margaritas. Erin, my sister, tagged me with some questions about my beloved forever ago and now I will answer!
What is his name? Joshua Blue Garrett
How long have you been together? March 2003. Our second date was Erin's bday april 4th.
How long did you date? About 2 1/2 years before getting married.
Who eats more? Of what? We're both huge pigs. Josh likes sandwiches and chips. I like big salads and roasted veggies. We don't discriminate; we'll eat anything really. Josh eats chips louder than anyone I've ever heard. I'll be 75 and still shush him.
Who said I love you first? Josh did!
Who is taller? Josh
Who is smarter? I have lots of stupid-random facts. Josh is definitely smarter about matters of the heart, friendships, you know, the important things.
Who does the laundry? I do. I like to clean and have things clean. So sue me.
Who does the dishes? Me usually. Josh if I ask him. He unloads the dishwasher on his own!
Who sleeps on the right? Laying down, I sleep on the right.
Who pays the bills? It's never the same on any given month. Down the middle I guess.
Who mows the lawn? I've changed this to 'Who changes the kitty litter?' I do, every day. I think we'll have to give our cats away if get pregnant; Josh HATES changing the litter box. I think he'd rather mow the neighbors lawn for free.
Who cooks dinner? Me.
Who drives when you are together? Josh usually which makes me insane. He drives slow no matter how late I AM.
Who is more stubborn? I am damn it! Passivity is for LOSERS. Josh is not passive, he is reasonable. Wonder what that's like...
Who kissed who first? Mutual.
Who asked who out first? Josh casually asked me out for drinks, I followed up the next day with a date and time.
Who proposed? Neither. I told him we were getting married after our 3rd or 4th trip to the Las Rocas Resort. This was in August 04, Josh surprised me with my ring in October.
Who has more siblings? I do.
Who wears the pants? I do, but I don't make any decisions without a sincere consultation with Josh. We have very similar values so the pants fit pretty well. And Josh likes shorts.

The Volvo has arrived!

Josh's company car has arrived! It's a lovely Volvo S40; you may have seem it, there's quite a few on the road. It's chameleon blue with beige leather interior. It's a shade of blue or gray depending on the light. The car is slightly smaller than my Nissan Altima (which I need to sell now) which is good; does anyone recall my bumpers? Oops. This car is pretty sporty with quite the pick up. We love it! We have it for 50,000 miles and Chipotle pays for maintenance and tune-ups. Sweet deal, especially since I'll be driving it the most!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

Happy Valentines Day to all! Josh got me these flowers last week when I was feeling a bit blue. He also got me some chocolates which I promptly devoured. What would the world be without chocolate? More importantly, what would my world be without Josh? So lucky to have his unconditional love... Love is, by far, the most important thing of all. A sweet quote to sum up:
Love is all we have, the only way that each can help the other. -Euripides

Pictures for the homesick

Man, I sure miss my family! It was so wonderful to be able to go home for Christmas this past year. I got to see all my favorite people and do all my favorite things (cook, eat, and cook some more). We had filet mignon and Caymus on Christmas! Josh and I ate awesome food with the parents at Mustards for lunch and went to Cuvee with Aunti Di and UB for a delicious dinner. Nothing compares to the restaurants in Napa; I'm such a snob. Never found comparable places in San Diego. If the food was comparable, the prices were insane and forget about finding a similar atmosphere. Right now I'm searching for the right job; good restaurants will come later here in Austin. Anyway, the mustard flowers seemed to be blooming early this year, I'm sure the valley is all bright yellow now! The tree at Cuvee sure looks a lot like Grandma's. Aside from my two chins, the picture of gma and I is pretty good. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful family. Thank you all for being so supportive of Josh and I with the big move to Texas. My fears and nerves were calmed by your excitement and support. I can always count on my family to help me weather uncertainties and look for the positives on the horizon. I am so grateful and love y'all SO MUCH!

A few pictures from our move

These are not the greatest pictures but oh well. The pictures above was taken at one of the very few rest stops. My photogenic self is trying to illustrate just how large Texas really is. It takes about the same amount of time to cross Arizona and New Mexico as it does to reach Austin (right finger) from the west TX border. Crazy, I know. I also took a picture of a sign that said 'Watch for snakes' here but you can't read it. Yikes. The other picture is from the moving truck when it arrived. Those poor movers...I walked out to the truck with a box cutter and a camera (prepared for the worst). I couldn't figure out how to turn this dumb picture but the box on the far right is at the bottom of a stack of 5 large boxes. If you look carefully you can see the words 'wine glasses'. The other sides of the box say things like fragile, don't stack, you're an idiot (just kidding about that one). The box above reads 'computer monitor/careful'. What is wrong with people? I was so upset, thinking all this stuff was broken. Josh opened the wine glasses and out of 20, only 2 were broken. At one point we thought were missing a box. I told the movers they couldn't leave until we found it. Josh said that we couldn't make them hostages. That Josh, he ruins everything. I let them go eventually. Turns out, one box had 2 numbers on it (each box was numbered with a little yellow piece of tape). Moving really did go pretty well. Packing up in San Diego was a bit stressful. The drive here was saved by walkie-talkies (and kitty valium). And unpacking went smooth thank to lots of Bud Light. Only the best for the Garretts.
